Diego Vicentini, talented Venezuelan filmmaker, is our special guest to kick off FSB’s newest season. Professor Suarez had the opportunity to talk with Vicentini about his debut and overnight success of his first feature film, Simón. The film has been chosen to represent Venezuela at the 38th Goya Awards. In this conversation, Suarez and Vicentini also discuss film-making cost and distribution, film marketing and promotion as well as exciting and very personal upcoming projects for the Venezuelan film director.

Diego Vicentini
Diego Vicentini was born in 1994 in Venezuela. His debut feature
film, Simón, was chosen to represent Venezuela at the 38th Goya Awards. The short film was released in 2018 in eight countries, and following its unexpected reception, Vicentini decided to turn it into a feature film. The homonymous movie Simón (2023) was Vicentine’s debut feature film, and it premiered on 15 April 2023 at the
Florida Film Festival in Orlando.
